Please heeeeelp! I got my EAD like the actual card Monday (3/11/13) and I went just today to the social security office and the lady told me to wait 10 days to be put in the system and 10 days to get it in the mail. The problem is, I have a job interview soon because I got overly excited and applied for jobs and I don't think my social will get here in time so do you think I'll get hired with just my ead or should I go get a print out soon?

Yeah, try to get a printout. And if hired, just explain that your SSN is in the mail and should be arriving soon.

Bump **

To share my experience at the SSN office today. I thought I would get a printout or at least go in tomorrow and pick up a printout with my SSN # on it. However, the guy that assisted me after saying I could come in tomorrow and pick up my SSN # changed his attitude and said I had to wait up to 4 weeks since the EAD had to be verified with DHS, what a jerk !!! I checked with my lawyer and guess that's normal from what he has heard from other clients, guess have to wait then again !!

I'm guessing this waiting period has to do with more people getting approved for DACA. My wife got approved for DACA last February. We went to the Social Security the day after her she received her EAD and she was given a print out that same day. This year, she received her green card in the middle of March. We went back to the Social Security office to get her new SS card and they told her that their system did not show her as a permanent resident and that it still had her info as a DACA recipient only. We called our lawyer and they told us to wait about ten days. We went back exactly 2 weeks later and she was able to get a print out and she received her new Social Security card in the mail about 6 days later.

Thanks for your message , I checked with my lawyer today he mentioned the wait of 4 weeks is normal from what he has seen lately , well hopefully all checks out fast and i get the SSN # in the mail soon. My lawyer also mentioned i could legally work in the meantime.

I didn't wait the 10 day period and got my ssn with no problem. But I have a friend who went to apply for her ssn months after I got mine and they told her that she needed to wait the 10 day period and since she didn't wait she was gonna have to wait longer to get her ssn.
