How are so many people getting Credit Cards with high CL? what's the secret...

Hi there...
I am currently in debt because of a stupid decision i made regarding financial aid and school... anyhow i need to pay 10k in order for me to transfer to a university, the school will not release my transcripts until i pay at least 10k...i owe 25k...

My plan is to get a Credit card for at least 5k cl...and save 5k and try to pay this off in the next year or so...i just haven't been lucky with credit cards...i tried capital one and got only $300 cl and i tried chase and didn't qualify for credit card only debit....i also tried discover and qualified only for a secured credit card...!!! does it depend on your income, age what???

where can i try, i need to get a credit card for at least 5000 or at least two for 1500 each...so i can save the rest and pay off this debt...i don't want to deal with it anymore..ugh, help anyone? how should i go about this?

Most of the people with high credit limits have had a history for couple years. Also, I think usage plays a big part too. Capital One refused to increase my limit and I stopped using it for couple year. After they changed their point system where $1 equals 1.5points I started to use it again. I logged in the other day and they told me to update my income information because they periodically go through people's accounts and offer credit limit increases.

Try Discover. I have 5k limit with them.

Discover does automatic credit increase after 3 months(?). Also try Citi. I went from 1k to 5k after one credit limit increase request. I think you have to wait 6months before asking though.

So what happened with financial aid ?

The secret is being a responsible person with any credit card, if the person pays on time and has good credit they give you higher CL
