The 1-765 Instructions tells us to write:
"Enter 'Unlawful Status: Deferred Action for Childhood arrivals by ICE' "

Should we just enter "Granted Deferred action for childhood arrivals" instead since that's kind of where we are right now for renewals?

NO.

You type exactly per the instructions. There's another section where it asks you if you applied for work authorization before from USCIS. You answer yes, then type the USCIS location you sent the application to and if it was GRANTED OR DENIED. Obviously you would type it GRANTED.

I agree with following directions, but this is a bit unclear. Firstly, it's under ICE granted deferred action (section #2) and the bullet points are sub-headed under that section as well.

I thought our deferred action was granted by USCIS not ICE.

Edit: I went back to the 2012 threads and apparently ""Unlawful Status: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals by ICE" was in the instructions as well, which doesn't make sense since we were just starting to apply for DACA.

I'll most likely put Unlawful Status: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.

Exactly what I was thinking. I looked at my application I filed in 2012 and thought I had made a mistake but that they still understood. I honestly think they will understand if we enter something about deferred action for childhood arrivals. They're going to look you up anyways since we are applying for a "renewal for permission to accept employment" right?

I had a minor trespassing summons charge but my case was dismissed. i have already submitted the documentation to my previous DACA application. DO i still need to answer YES for part 4 question 1?

Right. Even with DACA we do not have lawful status and I know my case wasn't granted by ICE so doesn't make sense for me to put that.

Again as I was looking at the previous threads many people argued about, but seems like the majority received their deferred action/work permits just fine.

does anyone here know if on the current immigration status question on the i-765 form we still put "unlawful status" or do we put "TPS" since we are renewing?
