Sad. Disgusting. Maybe you should have been sent back on a bus.

Love how you want the border secured, now that you got here. Way to support and respect your peers!

I am from the UK on expired visa. The USA border should have been secured before both you and me got here, but we're here. You and I are no better or no more entitled to be here than the kids rushing in from hispanic america now.

I sense a great disturbance within this discussion... I expect a massive text wall soon.

How irresponsible of these parents sending their kids on such a journey, with human traffickers no less. exposing them to dangers, they could be forced to smuggle drugs. really irresponsible, I understand that they're seeking to only improve their child's life. But at least do it responsibly like my parents once did. If they can't do that, then these parents shouldn't even think about trying this.

Right! My main concern is for the safety of the children. Quite frankly, they could easily be trafficked in child/sex slavery in plain sight and there would be no way of knowing what happened to them.

Plus, what I don't understand is how they are able to locate their family members in the U.S (if they have any)? And are we sure that those are their real family, people who won't exploit them? This is absolutely crazy to me. While I know US has so many more opportunities than other countries, it's not all roses here. Even orphaned U.S citizens get a raw deal once they enter the system.

Scumbag kids have been here weeks and expect a better life.
Some of us have been here 21+ years and are still waiting to be legalized.
We age out and they get what we fought for... sounds fair.

Maybe this whole Dream Act thing is a bad idea and should be replaced with an earned path to citizenship for all, where one has to demonstrate he/she's worthy of the US green card regardless of age. You Dreamers still get a head start because you speak the language and is comfortable with the US culture unlike the older immigrants.

What the US government also needs to do is to advertise the dire conditions of illegal immigrants in Central and South American countries in order to deter future illegal immigrants, by showing the plights of illegals lining up the street corner begging for a day labor jobs.

I agree with some of the comments here and some I do not.

My opinion is that these children who crosses the border and are currently detained by the US should be sent back to their country and let their government handle it. I do agree that this current situation is just hurting our cause. We, DACA recipients, are fighting every single obstacles in order for all of us to become fully permanent residents in the US. And, I find these children an obstacle. I see some people are conflicted between moral or lawful actions. Moral actions is to unite them to their parents and lawful is to send them back to their country. However, I think doing the moral actions seems to present an unfair case for us. Not only it is hurting our chances for CIR or Dream Act, but it opens up the "wound" again causing these politicians to continually criticize all illegal immigrants.

Some people say that they are children. That is true. However, not all of them are naive and innocent. Some children knows that they are breaking the law.
People here might say that they went through it and that they can sympathize, but we have to be realistic. These children are not DACA recipients. We worked to get a job, we studied here, ad all of our life has been spent living in US and knowing that this is our country.

Suffice to say, this whole situation de-prioritize DACA and our chances, if possible, CIR.

I agree. I think it is unfair. They should make a law to detain and deport NEWCOMERS people who illegally crosses the border, adult and children, and tighten the border.
