Seriously, i thought after obama got his 2 term , things would fall into place.

HOW long will it takes seriously.... i have been waiting since 2009 for CIR/ dream act to pass.

so you been waiting..? for 29 years? My friends brother came illegally 6 years ago, got married, went back home after ban, petition to come back, waited the whole procedure, petition approved, and now has his green card.

I can't imagine anyone waiting that long for the government to do something

Seriously. Get married already. It's not like we are getting any younger. Most lawyers will tell you this. Their first piece of advice is to get married lol

Keep on waiting with the amount of people coming in right now (1500 people a day) it looks like it will die again this year.

Well it's not like I signed up somewhere that said I'd wait 29 years. I too have seen people come here and get "married" after a couple of years and then have their lives back after 3 or 4 years. Here is how my life was and is different:

I came here when I was 10, so the first 10 years or so I was here, I couldn't really do much of anything as my life was completely out of my hand. So surely, I could have done something the next 19 years, right?

Well, not exactly. The difference between my 20 year old self and the guy here on the student visa, or whatever is that unlike me, that guy had nothing to lose and he was mostly here on his own without any responsibility for someone else. I've seen it dozens of times. Maybe they have a room-mate or another family member here, but ultimately, they are here to look out for #1 so anything goes from marrying some stripper their lawyer hooked them up with to sweet talking the 300 pound trailer woman with the 5 kids.

I on the other hand had to not only take care of myself, but also help take care of a parent and much younger sibling. When I say work, I mean WORK. There were weeks I'd put in 80 hour work weeks making $4 an hour in really shitty conditions around deadly chemicals. If I tried to do anything funny like the guys I mentioned above, I'd not only put myself at risk once shit hit the fan, but also my other family members.

Besides, I thought. I was raised here and had a fighting chance of meeting someone naturally and for real and I was still in my early 20's so I had plenty of time. And hey, in the late 90's there WAS talk of immigration reform. I wasn't exactly the most attractive catch because let's face it, a lot of 20 year old women are shallow and want to date the guy who has his own place and a new mustang, blahblahblah, but I was dating someone in my mid 20's for a couple of years and thought it would lead to something serious.

It turns out, all her friends and parents were telling her to leave me because I was only after her for a green card and I wasn't flashy enough with my working all the time. I had some work sponsorship plans too but this was around year 18 and a year after 9/11

Well shit. Now I was in my late 20's, not only was immigration reform dead, there were some serious dangers in even attempting anything remotely risky as it would expose me. So we waited a couple of years for things to settle down.

So now I'm in my early 30's in year 20. Still working crazy hours, still taking care of family, but got my own place at least. Problem is, girls in their 30's assume everybody has their own place and want an established guy. the 300 pound woman with the 5 kids is still around, but god damn it, I'm not going to take advantage of someone else and have my own pride as a human too. And this late in the game, I'm not going to get "married" to a stripper and risk throwing everything away after waiting this long.

So here I am still. DACA passed me by and I'm still here. I had a F4 sponsorship 8 years ago but at this very moment it's got 4 years to go which at this rate is more like another 10 years. Who knows whether I'll be alive then.

I see, well, idk, personally me, as much I love this country, I wouldn't have waited that long. I already got an education, one of the bests in the world, I am happy with that. Half my family did that actually, my cousins once they got their degrees, left back home.

i am start to feel like CIR might not pass until 2016. With all that children crossing border....
