Here the 411 on how to lease/buy a car:

You'll have much easier time buying a car than leasing a car. The reason why it's because when you buy a car you'll be able to get a loan from a private bank not just from car's manufacturer financial institution (For example: Ford Credit). They are just as picky as Credit Union. They won't loan you money due to fact our work permit expires every 2 years on the hand, private banks don't care about expiration at all and will loan you the money to buy a car.

My story:
I was denied by Ford Credit and GM Credit for leases on new car so I find out the hard way about it but I did managed to get a lease on a Chevy anyways. It turns out GM has a secondary financial option other than GM Financial for leases (Very rare) that is a private bank! I recommend trying Chevy dealer if you're interested on a lease.
Good luck!

Old thread but those who have leased a card without a cosigner, which car maker did you lease from? I know for a fact that Honda does not lease to non permanent resident aliens.

Leased a Scion from Toyota. No issue.

Attempted to finance on a new Accord purchase last year using father's name (who is not a permanent resident), ran credit check and no questions asked. Only reason why we didn't go through with it and instead opted to pay it off with cash was because of the high APR %.
