"An Inconvenient Truth" has bothered me since the day I heard it being publicized: "An Inconvenient Truth, NOW IN THEATERS!".

If Al Gore was really aiming to tell the public about the dire state of the environment [don't get me wrong; I do believe that we, as humans, need to take better care of our planet], he would have shown the documentary on PBS or another channel that can accessed by both people of a very wealthy background and people who are struggling to have a 12 inch TV. What sells in the box offices? Pure, unadulterated action and drama. I firmly believe that "An Inconvenient Truth" is full of completely over-exaggerated ideas [mind you, I do believe in the effects of global warming] and countless half-truths. "An Inconvenient Truth" reminds me too much of a global warming version of "The Day After Tomorrow" for me to believe it.

That, and the fact that if Al Gore can talk all that shit about global warming and still drive around with a Cadillac Escalade, I can buy 5 Hummers and have them chug gas all I want. Bah. Liberals. [omg I said the L word! LMAO j/k].

And to answer your question, how exactly would I know the government is lying to me? Because of some ass who decides to make a movie out of some "idea" he may or may not have thought of while smoking some really bad weed? If there was a real way of discerning that the government was lying to the public via official documents and actual, physical evidence [not a blurry 3 seconds of film in which GWB may be killing and sucking the blood out of a human baby OR merely petting a dog]. I'm not going to believe some movie telling me "OMG...THE GOV'T IS TOTALLY LYING TO YOUUUU" while giving me abstract evidence that seems to melt down once one actually reads books.

Just my two cents, once again.

Well, from my studies of religions, the initial Christians did not steal anything from other religions; they just tried to match up dates and certain festivities from Pagan religions so that the transition from Paganism to Christianity would be easier. Not wonderful, of course, but definitely not a conspiracy. It's pretty understandable.

Let me you ask you this erasan: Knowing this "information", are you questioning your belief in whatever God you believes in before? If so, you didn't have firm beliefs in it the first time so it was only a matter of time until something convinced you "religion" was a bad thing.

I'm not saying your belief was fragile at all. I was just giving an example of why people fall into the trap of these "movies".

I never said I don't believe in the effects of global warming. In my post, I even mention that I do. What I do not believe is that this is going to have as severe of results as Gore and others claim it will. Have we forgotten the "Ice Age" scare of just 30 yrs. ago? The same premises, the same consequences, the same scare tactics. No need to believe in "extreme consequences".

It doesn't matter how many people watch your "documentary" or not. Quality over quantity. Word of mouth would've spread pretty quickly if the movie really contained the boring but TRUTHFUL evidence of what is really occurring other than everyone running to see it because of "how cool and life-changing" the MOVIE was. I don't believe in televangelists and I don't believe in "An Inconvenient Truth"'s extremist message. Done deal for me.
