Can anyone please share their experience on the process of changing your last name. I got married to a US citizen last year in November and I recently sent my renewal applications using his last name! Any input is appreciated thanks!

Usually you should had sent a copy of the marriage certificate as a reason to be using his name.

I wouldn't do it until you get a Green Card to avoid any delays or confusions, but I guess you already did it so you can tell us what happens!

a person i know changed their last name on their renewal package. They sent their application 2 weeks earlier than mine. I got my receipts today, and they haven't received anything. It is a dumb thing to do. Now this person faces possible "out of status".

I would wait until you get your green card. I don't know if you're planning on applying for it anytime soon, but my wife didn't change her last name until we submitted the application for her petition. Once you have your green card and SSN with your married last name, you can go change your drivers license and bank account and all that stuff. It's just less of a hassle.

I sent my application last Friday along with my marriage certificate. I have looked at other immigration forums and I haven't found anyone with complications so hopefully I won't get an rfe!

I don't think this should cause any complications as long as you submitted the marriage certificate.

Wait times vary because depending on who gets your case, you may get processed faster than the next. I saw one poster who received his DACA the same time I did but he submitted his 1 month later. Those are the breaks, I guess.
