Do you have a job ? Have you had it for at least 3 months ? They need to see that you have some source of income. My first secure card was with Bank of America. Try them. You need to have a job for at least 3 months though. The same job because you will have to write down your employer and how much you make.

Recentkeu discovery has been mailing me to apply for the it card. I have no credit so I may consider it.
My question is why are they sending me stuff all of a sudden? Thank you

Yeah these guys make their money on the interest. I got them when I barely got my SSN too. Don't get those , there sorta like a trap. They know your going to mess up and use more than u can afford and they'll make money on you for a long time. You got to take this in baby steps. If you wana buy a house or car later on do credit through your bank. It will be much easier later on.

I got my first Credit Card when i was around 17/18 with my ITIN, with Capital One. I dont know maybe the laws have changed dramatically due to recession . I dont even know if Capital One still exists. When i applied they sent me a form to my home where it said SS# i put my ITIN and magically about 8 days later i received my first credit card. It was for $500. about 4 months later they raised it to $1900.. And as berto said yes the credit card companies make alot of money from the interest.

I really don't see a problem with credit cards as they are not forcing us to apply or anything and not to mention, everything nowadays requires credit. Unless you have well over 300k for a car or 30k for a car in cash, you will need credit. So once youve gotten a card, try googling credit optimization

Even so, lots of places will demand you get some type of financing despite the cash presentation, with the hope of getting you to slow down your payment so they can collect on interest over the sticker price. Once you have that financing though there is nothing to stop you from dropping the entire payment down at once. These guys are just really tight ass about the interest.

Well usually any institution where you drop that kind of money will probably report you to the gov. Actually just focus on building good credit
