I don't know that the courts are at the disposal of Vargas... he has no status within the court system. Also, this is an internet chat. He would have to prove damages as a result of an internet chat, which is almost impossible.

Slander and libel are not the same thing. Slander is spoken, not written.

I swear, sometimes I think I'm arguing with 12 year olds. Being here legally and having the ability to sue are two separate issues. You can't run over and injure illegals and then say "well, they can't sue me...they're not even supposed to be here!"

If you say Lou Dobbs is a whore on this forum, that can be interpreted as you thinking he is a media whore, or your general opinion of him. If you said "I saw Lou Dobbs take money from a prostitute" and you are someone who generates enough buzz about it to where people think it's a true story then you're god damn right he can come after you.

It does not matter what status you have on this country, if you can bring enough evidence, you can sue anyone if you can prove they have done you harm. And proving stuff over the internet happens all the time like that case IamMan posted, people post stuff on twitter and get sue over it.

I think it if was using another person's SSN then it's morally wrong especially if misusing such as opening and abusing a credit line, using that identity when caught by cops recklessly driving or something. Unless person is dead the owner of the SSN can actually benefit from it since it's two people working for one SSN. More SSN money for retirement man! lol

If its a small claims court if you lose you pay for court fees. Yeah this person sue and it was dumb and everyone made fun of him. That doesn't mean he can't sue. Even if he's deported after wards. he can still bring up a case. Being illegal is another different matter handled by ICE and their own court ruling. You know if Youre court ordered to leave the USA by certain time.
