So here is the issue. Today I received the biometrics letter and it is on the 5th. When I sent in the application I included a copy of a doctor's letter stating that I was in the transplant list. I am currently in Salt Lake, Utah and the USCIS is about 20 minutes away from me but they scheduled me at the Boise, Idaho USCIS office which is 355 miles, or 5 hours away.

If I was okay I wouldn't mind a 5 hour drive in order to get my biometrics done, but the issue is that there are no specialized heart hospitals in Idaho and if I happened to have any complications I might not make it back to my doctors alive. I am on an artificial heart. If it comes to it, then I will have to get doctor approval and make it a quick trip. But I prefer not to risk it.

Do any of you have a phone number so I can call and get it scheduled to the USCIS closest to me? Would it be possible to do a walk-in in this other one and explain my situation to them along with doctor's notes? This is a serious situation and the USCIS number that I've called (located on their footer homepage) is taking it as a joke.

Thanks

I'm curious, where are you getting this from? Did people do this 2 years ago that I missed? None of the USCIS workers were able to answer any questions they all sounded very confused and unable to help or point me in any direction so hearing that I can go into any of them sounds too good to be true.

Hi pesos that is very unfortunate but Daca filers have been doing this from the start. Go to the original filers thread and you will see people doing walk-ins at "friendlier" locations in order to cut infront of the line. Good luck

Thanks. You and G33k just turned my night around. My head was spinning because I didn't know what I was going to do. I'll head over to the one near me on Monday since I need to set up some accommodations anyway so that they don't damage my equipment with their metal detectors or magnetic wands so I will find out for sure. You both seem very confident about it so it's possible that I just wasn't aware.

Thanks.

Yes, it is true that you can go to any center. Two years ago and also this year my bio appointments were scheduled in Washington state, but I go to college in NYC so both ocassions I went to Manhattan center without any problems.

Also, some offices will make you speak to the supervisor before getting the okay to go ahead and do the biometrics. So, just like Nic89 said, I would bring an original or a copy of the letter from the doctor just in case they want to see it.

I wanted to update this thread in case someone in the future has a similar question and comes across this thread. I walked into the SLC, UT USCIS and spoke with the guards. One of the guards went to speak with someone in the biometrics office and they gave me the okay. They didn't ask me for doctor's notes because the artificial heart that I carry around my waist is very obvious. I did not have any issues being let in even though I did not allow them to put me through the metal detector or the wand.

I simply went in to ask if I could do my biometrics in that office instead of the office in another state, they said yes and they even offered to get me in that same day to do the biometrics done ahead of time, which I did, so I do not have to go back in on the 5th when my appointment was set.

Thanks everyone.
