I will be having an interview with immigration to adjust status through my husbands sibling petition. I have a dilemma about my current job, i have been working there with a fake ss# for more than 10yrs. I just got DACA n haven't found a job. What should i do? Some people tell me not to worry n continue working until I adjust status since everyone works illegally I wouldn't be the only one. Others tell me i need to quit because it's a greater risk n my app might get denied. I don't know what to do, my job offers me financial security and I'm scared to quit. I need help making a decision. What would you do in my place?

I would come clean and tell you need to update your SSN, they will most likely do it if you have been there for 10 years. For immigration, it won't matter at all. I know personally people who worked with SSN, adjusted their status and her using fake SSN didnt matter at all.

The issue is that it's a corporation n i have been asking around with the mgrs i am comfortable with n they tell me i will get fire if i admit i falsify my documents. I have been applying everywhere but i haven't had luck yet. I am wondering how other people were able to change their ss#

You could just tell them that SS has issued you a new number.

I mean, USC can request a new number if they want.

Just stay there. Don't ask don't tell.

They won't ask you much about your job during the interview. The only thing they will ask you is what do you and your husband do for a living. I wouldn't worry about the interview. You should try to either change your SSN at your current job or find a new one. My wife worked for the same company for 8 years before she changed her SSN and they didn't seem to care much.

Wrong, that is not the case at all. The only reason that SSA will issue you a new one is a case of identity theft, even that is not a guarantee as it takes a lot of evidence to warrant a new social. If anyone could request a new one at anytime, wouldn't a person go out and create a lot of debt under a SSN and then get a new SSN and start over again?

But it is not out of the question for someone to get a new SSN. I made it seem more trivial than it really is, but it's not uncommon for someone to have to tell their employer that they've got a new SSN now.

One of my mgrs told me that even if u have identity theft u keep the same number for life. It's rare when someone is able to actually change their number. I feel like if i tell my main mgr. I had to change my #. She will request evidence. The company does periodic ss# checks n everyone who has a fake # gets fired if they cannot bring a letter from the SSA. I think I am going to have to take the risk n say i have to change my number. Whatever will be...will be
