dude that freaking sucks! what about the temporary permit they mention on the USCIS Website?

"However, if you have filed your renewal request with USCIS approximately 120 days before your deferred action and EAD expire and USCIS is unexpectedly delayed in processing your renewal request, USCIS may provide deferred action and employment authorization for a short period of time."

If you mention that to USCIS customer service rep, they're just going to say that there is no such thing as temporary extension.

I called USICS regarding this issue today. Basically, they are as useless as you would imagine. "There is nothing we can do for you, sir" Well......

I have requested time off work once my EAD expires, which is on 9/26, just in case I don't get renewed before it expires. Had a talk with my supervisor about the situation and he told me that since all of our company's projects have slowed down, they can hold my position for maybe a month or so, thus I'm very fortunate in that aspect. Just hope it doesn't take that long.

That is my suggestion for those who are expiring soon; try requesting as much time off allowed by your employer once your EAD expires, that way you have some extra time to get renewed after your expiration before you actually lose your job.

By law they can't pay you during the period when you are not authorized to work. I don't know how exactly that would work. I also have 80 hrs of PTO.

This thing is that they received my case on July 3rd so they will not take those measures on me. I called a customer representative and they are completely useless. They simply spit back at you what is already said on "Check your Case Status."

Of course it won't be PTO. I'm going to take all that time off without pay.

Just a quick update, my card in now in production as of 9/5. However my I821D is still on "initial review." Do any of y'all know what that means? I guessing that if they approve you for work authorization, that means that your case got approved so they don't need to update the case online.
