My EAD card was stolen and I need to renew on January, I read I need a copy of my EAD but I don't have it should I apply for a replacement? If I do it will likely get here after January when I should reapply! Should I just wait and reapply with a copy of my ID without the EAD? Or should I just apply for a replacement and wait until I get it to reapply? I really don't know what to do!! Please help!! My EAD expires on march
Also if I get a replacement will it expire on the original date? Or will it expire in two years?
I am pretty sure you can. Refer to the following thread. This person's app was accepted even with NO copy of ID apparently which makes no sense to me. Anyway after reading the instructions for both 765 and 821D, I can't make out anywhere that a copy of your current EAD is definitely required. So, I suggest you go ahead and apply for a renewal with a copy of any other government issued ID. Send in proof of the 821D 797 Notice of Action though to validate your status. Getting a replacement EAD would run you about $400 so clearly its not worth it. I suggest you send in your renewal about 5-6 months ahead of your expiration date.
