Well, so after 2 years trying to build a good credit history and finally reached a "GOOD" score with the 3 major credit companies, I decide to go and apply for an AUTO loan with WF, and looks like, Auto loans cannot be given to work permit holders, you have to be permanent resident or US citizen. How do they know? I have no idea, because I applied online, and all it asked me was my SSN. They didn't see my ID or the card itself. All I know is that my application was denied it sucks. I live in NC.

Hey. There are plenty of threads on this here. But to keep it short, as a DACA recipient, you are only eligible to get an auto loan from a credit union. I strongly suggest you apply through a dealer. I would prefer that you apply for the loan while you're making your purchase and let the dealer specifically know you want to go through a CREDIT UNION. Or you can always go directly to the CU but the thing is dealers have relationships with financial institutions including credit unions. Now I won't get into giving you advice on how to read your loan terms and being careful you don't get ripped off. That's another story but yeah go through a credit union.

How did they know you were a DACA recipient if they did not see your DACA (ideas or guess)? I understand you said you do not know how they find out, but then how do you know you were denied because of DACA? Was it stated on the letter? What do you considered a good credit score?

My brother got financed by Honda services for a new civic. He still had to put a down payment on the car, but the person who gave him the loan did not really worry about his daca status. Just took his ss card and driver's license and, a couple hours later, my brother was qualified. So, I think it varies... from bank to bank.

Auto loan from Ally financial bank. I bought a C300 Sport Mercedes-Benz. I have 2 years worth credit and good salary job. All they needed was DL, SSN and recent paystubs.

I purchased 3 cars, one was financed by m&t bank, the second through ally bank and recently I got my truck financed by Nissan. Alls you have to do is go to a dealer and let them find a bank that will give you a loan based on your credit score. I would stay away from the bigger banks as they seem to be more strict with their requirements.

I first went to a credit union, they said they could open an acct to be a member but If I needed a loan they would not be able to give it to me since I needed to be a perm resident or citizen. Maybe bank policies varies by state or the type of bank. As of Wells Fargo application, I don't know exactly why it was denied, they told me I was gonna receive a letter by mail. And I have a credit score of 700, is considered very good. so not sure why it was denied. i'll find out exactly once I get the letter.
About going straight to a dealer, Ill probably get qualified by a bank, but most likely with a higher APR than applying for a load first through a bank.
