So what did you end up getting, temporary leave of absence or permanent termination?

Yeah they said I can't be employed period. No leave of absence, no nothing. Its a work permit, not a get paid permit. So yeah they shut me down. It was the most embarrassing thing I've ever had happen to me.

Has everyone thats been approved had a name change update? I'm guessing that's how they're sorting what application's expire first, etc.

Will they take you back if you get your EAD in the near future?

That's why I always ask people what type of industry they work in. If it's like a retail store or restaurant they are not going to sit around with the spot open waiting for your potential return one day. On the other hand if it's a corp job, they would be more likely to extend an unpaid leave of absence because of all the investments they have put in recruiting you.

I'm in banking for a pretty large and well known bank and they wouldn't let me. They kept telling me they had to "comply."

They did say they would hire me back immediately once I got renewed. The problem is my bills aren't going to stop if this takes a while.

Maybe it's their policy to terminate you on paper. But it's cool if they are willing to hire you back without re-interviewing.
