I can barely believe my eyes after reading this thread. Are you serious? The government is giving you guys relief from deportation (which they did not have to do) and you're already talking about suing companies and shit?

You can discuss legal technicalities all you want and maybe what they did perhaps did violate certain rights, but my advice to you is this: if they treated you well, then don't burn any bridges and go find another job for now.

Don't forget deferred action is simply a measure for the federal government to focus more on deporting bigger fish. They don't owe you shit.

NO ONE is suing anyone. People are just exploring possible options for this situation. It's for me to decide whether to go through with it or not, and I've decided, no.

I'm not demanding anything, because I know they don't owe me anything.

Fair enough.

Honesty is the best policy. I would just be honest from the beginning, that way there are no surprises down the road. Even if it means you may have a hard time finding someone that will hire you.

On the bright side, at least you got some recommendation letters.

I have access to Multi-billion dollar companies' portfolios, it is not the nature of the job. What they did to you is illegal. It is the same if they fired you for expecting a child because it might inconvenience the company.

Sounds like they don't know what they are talking about. I'd find some legal counsel. Unless your application for employment specifically stated they only hired ie US Citizens etc they can't really fire you after you've been hired. Unless they've changed the rules on you which doesn't sound like it.

And by the way it's not about suing left and right but part of the rights of being in this country is actually learning how to defend yourself whenever their is something that goes against your legal rights

It sounds like a lot of you kids dont know what the heck youre talking about. Did you guys bother to read this post at all? He wasnt fired at all, he was working under a contract, the contract expired and they didnt bother renew it. He wasnt fired even then, but laid off, you guys can cry your hearts about the company not knowing what they did but even if they didnt, suckers who work under contract have little no protection about being fired on the spot. And again, he wasnt fired but laid off.

His contract was not renewed under the basis of immigration status

We dont know what type of contract it is. OP can you legally post your contract with out breaching any disclosures notices?
