I didn't know if anyone had posted anything about their AP experience walking across the border. I finally got my AP approved and headed to Tijuana to see my grandmothers! My sister dropped me off at the San Diego trolley, which took me all the way to San Ysidro pedestrian crossing, my husband and I crossed over and had my aunt pick us up. Crossing into Mexico is SUPER easy, we literally just walked across and not once got stopped. Coming back on Sunday was a whole different situation, mostly because we had to wait in a 3 hour line to get across the rolling gate/door things. Once past those I headed for the I-94 permit office and went in, I paid six dollars for a one time I-94 permit and then headed to the parole officer. I gave him my AP documents, my passport, my DL, and my work permit. He was a little confused at first and asked his fellow coworkers how to process it, they showed him, and they also asked me a bunch of questions about where I was going and what I was planning to do. All I told him was that I was going to the address listed on the AP document and that I was adjusting status. They asked me if I had been to Juarez and I told them that I just stayed in TJ because the AP document didn't require me to go to Juarez. They kept asking me if I knew what city my work permit was issued and I told them that all I knew was that it was processed in the Nebraska Service Center. Finally, he stamped one of documents and gave me my I-94. I then proceeded to head to the line where another officer pretty much asked me where I was going and why and then let me through back into the US!! Now I am working on adjusting my status through my husband. I'll update again once I do adjust. Any feedback or tips on adjusting would be appreciated, though.

Whoa yeah the being interrogating seems off to be. When I came through San Francisco, the guy working on my AP was new to it but didn't ask me anything else. The guy helping him was very aware of it and told him to treat it as some other thing. It lasted about 2 hours

wow! they asked you alot of questions! my husband & I crossed though tj/san ysidro border and we only were waiting for 30-40 minutes and not one question was asked about where he went/what his plans are/ nothing. Maybe its because we drove back through the border and got sent to the driving section 2nd inspection instead of the walking 2nd inspection. But at least your back in the US ok, we are also adjusting status at the moment.

That's awesome. I have been wondering this, if I ever need advance parole as most of my family lives in Juarez and I live 6hrs from the border and it would be pointless to fly. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Awesome news!!!!

I actually have my Immigration interview next week in NYC.

I Used an employment based AP and am now adjusting through my wife.
To give you a little heads up on the time line.

My Bio metrics was about 45 days after i submitted all the paper work
They approved my work permit right on the 90 day marker.
My interview date is roughly 4.5 months since they received the application.
I already had an approved I-130 from 9 years ago. My wife and I applied for it even thought I knew I wasn't eligible to adjust at the time.

Did you have to leave the country via AP and come back before applying for AOS or can you apply for AOS before being approved for AP? I applied for AP a couple of weeks ago. How long did it take for your AP to get approved? I'm planning to apply for AOS through my husband after getting approved for AP.

I applied for AP first and now I'm submitting my AOS papers because now I have the I-94 number that I needed. It took FOREVER to get my AP for some reason, it took about 4 months, it kinda sucked, it does say that it's supposed to take around three months, though.

I walked back, yes. I wanted to fly too because I thought it would be easier but it was expensive and I was only going to TJ so I just went ahead and walked across. Honestly, I would recommend driving, walking, or flying, so many people have done it now that I think it's pretty safe.
