Anyway,
USCIS do not process applications on weekends. They are closed.
You should get a response by the end of this week.
While processing times vary, there is a concept of insufficient time insofar as best positioning yourself to avoid lapse. This is based on factors like officially published processing times, experiences of fellow applicants, and the 120-150 day recommended filing window.

However, even if somebody applies close to the date of expiration, there is still a possibility that they may be approved before lapsing because, as has been stated many times, actual processing times are wildly varying.

Hello everybody,

I've been in panic mode over the last week. My DACA/EAD are expiring 11/2/14, and my applications seemed to be 'stuck' at the Texas Processing Center since 7/11/14. I'm currently employed at a big corporation, with great benefits, however at a risk of losing my job given a possible lapse in EAD renewal. My HR management has reached out to me a few times already, reminding me about the quickly approaching I9 re-verification. Since my expiration falls on a Sunday, I need renewal proof by this Friday. It's been an emotional train-wreck.

I decided to be proactive, and not just wait and hope for timely resolution. I've called the USCIS customer service center numerous times-by now, we all know that's pretty much pointless. I also attended an INFOPASS appointment at my local immigration office-just to be told that there's nothing that could be done and interim EADs are not available. I've filed an inquiry with the Ombudsman, contacted both, my Congressman and Senator. All the meanwhile, I was checking my case status online religiously, everyday.

I've gotten a great response from my Congressman's office. I was put in touch with one of his Aides, and she's been extremely helpful and on top of my case. I submitted all my supporting documents to her Friday 10/17/14, and she forwarded my info to the Congressional Liaison. She also strongly encouraged me to call her everyday, with remainders to follow up. So i did. I called and/or emailed every single day last week. And almost everyday, she was on the phone with the TSC reps.

Long story short, I was so very pleasantly surprised to see my EAD status change online this morning!!! I'm now listed as "Card/Document Production." Couldn't believe my own eyes! My DACA remains in "Initial Review", but I hope that should be updated soon, as well? Also, does anybody know what's the approximate delivery time for the actual EAD? I'm afraid my employer may require the physical card in order to complete my I9 re-verification.

By the way - thank you everybody for sharing your stories on here. All the feedback is very valuable and educating!

***11/02/14 - EAD/DACA expiration
*7/11/14 - application received at Texas (from Chicago)
*8/05/14 - first biometrics appointment (attended & completed on the scheduled date)
*9/02/14 - second biometrics appointment (attended as well-told by staff that my biometrics were correctly captured the first time around, on 8/05/14)
*10/28/14 - EAD status update "Card/Document Production". DACA remains in "Initial Review"

Who is your representative? My EAD expires 11-9-14. I start a new job on 11-3-14 and I hope my EAD is approved by then. My case is also at Texas service center and in initial review since July 11, 2014. I contacted my congresswoman and senator and they both sent a request to the Texas service center last Monday. My lawyer submitted an ombudsmen request last week as well, but no update. I called uscis several times and yesterday a higher level rep sent a request to the Texas service Center. Congrats on your approval! I hope I get approved soon.

My Congress representative is Mike Quigley (it's all based on your district/zip code). I'd recommend to follow up with your congresswoman/senator offices as soon as you can. Call/email them - continue asking to contact TSC on your behalf. They (obviously) have much more authority and influence than we do.
It's very unfair that Texas' backlog is negatively impacting so many of our cases. But again, stay strong and be as persistent as you can! Good luck!!!

Great thanks. I will contact congresswoman Schakowsky's and senator Durbin's office again to see if they can contact the Texas service center again.

Also, as far as your new job, I would wait until they ask for I9 verification (it'll be depending on the size of the company, or how "on top of things" HR/management is). If they ask right away, show them your current one - it's still valid. If they ask for the renewal, say it's in the process. You can always show them your receipt notice as proof of the ongoing renewal case.

Thanks you KaroDreamerChi.
My new job is at a big company, so I just hope my EAD is approved quickly. Thanks again!
