I'm just worried about getting the French visa now!!! There's an interview for it. Do you think they will ask about my status and overstay, and will that be reason to deny it to me? Are these kind of things more lenient to students?
lmao ignore some of the idiots that posted here. You have a clear opportunity so GO. Experience new places while you can. Why the f*ck do they care that you're leaving the country for one semester. It's also your money and not theirs... Hope everything works out with the renewal/AP process. GLHF

My professor told me that in the past a student with refugee status did the same study abroad. Are we similar to refugees in terms of AP? Do they have green card or visa? My professor doesn't even know what DACA is.

Refugees have legal status. Their i94s are stamped upon entry as refugees and they can adjust status. We all know that DACA does not grant one legal status. It is a bit different. I wish you luck, but I would not risk it. It might not even work because of the timing like you said. You can't leave the US while your renewal of DACA is pending. That automatically results in a denial of your case. It might work if your renewal is approved early and we all know how much of a waiting game there is with USCIS. I wold be careful. Too many what if's. Better to be safe than sorry. You're young and can always go to France another time.............preferably a time when you have legal status.

I'm pretty sure I'll be renewed before December. I leave in January. I don't think timing will be a problem anymore. The visa process is actually pretty fast I heard. I did a lot of research these past few days and made some phone calls and I haven't found anything that will definitely prevent me. So I'm going for it. Coming back is another story, though, but I'm sure we'll have more info on AP by then.

Were you ever able to figure it out? Did you renew your Daca and Have you applied for AP and been approved?

I would like to study abroad as well in Spring 2015. Just not sure how I need to handle it since mine expires on Spring 2015 (October).

Would you give us an update on your status and progress?

Thanks

I decided not to study abroad anymore.

Don't want to risk being out of the country if CIR/something passes and I'm getting some very good job opportunities.
