Longer duration of travel with AP

I was wondering how long we can stay outside the US on AP, without them rejecting our application. Most of the threads I see on the forum only travel to their home countries for couple days to maybe 1-2 weeks max. If I use employment reason for AP, is it possible to travel for maybe 1 month or more? Does anyone have any experience with this?

I have a friend that is in Mexico for humanitarian reasons and he will be there for one month. He requested AP to go see his grandmother who is having some health problems. I do know that AP is also for educational purposes and I'm guessing it's for those who want to study abroad which requires months away from the US. I think if you send evidence of why you need to stay there longer for employment reasons they'll approve it without a problem.

I was out of the country for about 2 1/2 months and came back without any issues.

Not sure if this has been asked before... How do I even apply for AP? And what constitutes "Humanitarian Reasons"

I want to either go back to my home country or visit my cousins in Canada.
