New here, first of all, thanks so much to everyone for posting all of this information. I really appreciate it.

Quick question:
When he announces his executive action and i have a family member start the process, how will she obtain a green card? I'm asking this based on how DACA from 2012 worked.

I've read that just because you are shielded from deportation, doesn't mean you have a path of any kind to citizenship or permanent resident status. But i've seen people on the news saying they've gone through the process and have now received their green card.

I think it's through Advance Parole and crossing over very briefly after obtaining this parole in order to do a health screen and a few other things. I've heard this, but i can't find it anywhere online.

Is this true? is this how it works?

No none of that is true or you just misunderstood the whole thing. People with DACA who was successfully transition to Permanent Resident status was through MARRIAGE to a United States Citizen who after Advance parole applied to adjust their status.

So in other words just by simply using an advance parole doesnt mean you can jump to a green card out of nowhere. You need an immediate relative (spouse) to petition for you.
