I took out $110,000 in loans to go to a private school, Northwestern University.

Well people have different reasons. Maybe for some parents, they don't want to hurt the child by telling the truth. You may think that's worse, but different people have different beliefs

Well I didn't know anything about visa until I was applying to college because immigration law is not something that you deal with in everyday life

Was this after DACA? I couldn't get any loans and I also had no collateral. Then again I don't have DACA.

I'm sorry but why would you do such a thing? When you knew your status was in jeapardy? Do you realize you just took out a mortgage for a subpar univ? I sure hope your parents aren't footing the bill, and you're working hard to pay off that.

Thank you for the Ted talk, it was amazing and good work.

No, this was before DACA. I entered legally and have always had a SSN, drivers license, bank accounts, credit cards, etc. The only thing I did not have was a US passport/green card, so that's part of why I didn't know about my undocumented status. I have no idea how any of you were able to go through life without credit cards!! Kudos to y'all!!

DACA was actually announced on my college graduation day — I was literally sitting at my ceremony in my cap/gown wondering what I was going to do with my life! Crazy coincidence, huh?

LOL, thanks for what I'm hoping is a compliment (but a backwards compliment at that).

I didn't know my status was "in jeopardy" when I took out my loans. In my TED talk, the first thing I say is that I learned about my undocumented status during my junior year of college.

And "LOL" @ "subpar university." Dude, I went to Northwestern University. You have some ridiculous standards if you think that's subpar.
