Hello, my name is Maribel and I am new to the forum. However, I have read every thread I could find relating to advance parole. I applied for AP for humanitarian reasons and was approved in less than a month even tought I did not request them to expedite.

I left Houston on the 21st of May through Bush International Airport. No problems all I needed was my passport. I spent 4 days in SLP and came back yesterday, May 25. No problems leaving SLP airport they just checked my passport and glanced at my AP papers. Everything went smoothly. My husband was with me. He presented his passport since he is citizen that was it for him, they took my prints and picture. I was taken to a waiting area there were a lot of people. The officers were very rude to people and were overquestioning. I thought they would do the same to me but no. They called me to the front desk and asked for my AP papers and my work permit card. He stamped all my papers and I was good to go. No questions or anything. He did ask the officer next to him, "these are the DACA papers right?" Before stamping them. I was very surprised he literally did not ask me a single thing. The waiting was the hardest part. It took them about and hour to get to me.

Overall, it.was.an amazing experience. I am glad I went through it and I would recommend it for the right reasons. I would do it all over again.

Glad to read your successful story. Can you please shed light on where are you referring to when you say "SLP"? Is this in Mexico? And what humanitarian purpose did you use and what type of proof did you send them? I'm asking because I will be applying for AP soon and trying to gather as much information as I can.

Great to hear your story! Thanks for sharing! I hope this helps others who are doubtful or anxious about the process. It's interesting to hear that CBP officers are now aware of Deferred Action and DACA.

San Luis Potosi, Mexico? That's my guess.

Sorry, yes it was San Luis Potosi, Mexico. I send a letter from my grandmother's doctor explaining her condition and it says she is in high risk of getting a heart attack. It was in Spanish so I had it translated and notarized. Send your birth certificate and also get it translated. It is proof of kinship. I also attached a letter explaining my situation. Copies of my drivers license, work permit, and DACA approval. Don't forget your passport size photos.

It seems they were very aware and supportive of DACA because they started talking about someone who had left right before it was announced and they felt so bad because the person could have qualified.
They were young probably mid twenties so I am sure they had knowledge on the topic.

I was very nervous leaving. Because it has been said entry is not guaranteed. However, reading the success stories gave me the courage I needed. So I decided to put mine up. If it helps one person I'll be happy.

My lawyer said there Isn't really a risk when coming back. I went in January to Mexico. I wish I could go again but for a longer period of time. Good to hear you came back successfully.

I am glad to be back. It's a beautiful country but nothing like being home with my husband and daughter.

It's hard not be scared after reading so much about people's opinions on the topic. I know they are no experts but it makes you wonder, what if. I hope to go back one day under different circumstances.

Hi Maribel, thank u for posting your story! I agree, reading people's experience with AP also gave me the courage to apply to travel abroad. Wow I am surprised u only waited a month for approval! What day did u submit ur paperwork & what processing center processed ur paperwork? Are you gonna be able to adjust status now that you got paroled in?

I send the application on March the 22, 2014. It was approved April 11, 2014. I got the actual AP papers just a few days later. To be honest with you I do not know which center processed the paperwork. I did not look it up since I got emails that updated me on the status. Everything went so fast and I asked for 6 days and they gave me a month. I have to see a lawyer first I hope I will be able to in the future my husband is a US citizen, we have a baby and we have been married for 5 years.

I am glad people are coming back safely too.

Hello. I am new to this thread and forum. I was brought to the US from Mexico when I was 2. I am now 28. I am married to a US Citizen and was granted DACA. I just recently applied for AP because I haven't seen my grandparents for over 25 years and they are now in critical condition at the hospital. I obtained letters from their physicians and birth certificates as evidence. Sent paperwork out on Nov 3rd and got a letter that they had received my application a week later. I am now just waiting for my actual response but will keep you posted! =) I hope everything goes smooth! Good luck to everyone applying!
