Hi All,

I applied to a Community College and I told them I'm undocumented - they admitted me but told me that I have to pay NON RESIDENT TUITION FEE of $175.00 a unit against $20.00 a unit. I was here since I was 4 years old started my elementary to high school and graduated and lived here in California since.

Is there a way for me to get the in state tuition fee? What are the requirements. Please help as I can't pay that amount.

Anybody here that would give me an idea. Should I go back to the admission and contest it? Please help

Thanks to all of you.

Definitely go back and talk to someone about it.

I went to my counselor and he gave me the form to exempt me from non-resident tuition. I showed them my diploma and the admissions people took my word for it. What they really need is a high school transcript as proof though, I think.

Hi bbcmack,
I went to a community college in CA and then transfered to a CSU. I was eligible for in-state tuition. You absolutely, do not need to pay non-resident fees if you attended a high school for three years and graduated. What you need to tell them is that you qualify for in-state tuition under AB-540. You should go back to your high school and request a official transcript. You will need to take that to the community college along with your high school diploma (they'll take a copy of it). Next, they will give you a couple forms you will need to fill out, basically stating that you will try to reuglarize your status as soon as possible and that you indeed are eligible under AB-540.

By the way, what community college told you that bs? If you don't mind me asking. If they give you more crap, come back to the forum and we will figure something else.
Good luck
