People with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) may one day be eligible to enlist under the MAVNI program, but as of today, none of the Services have authorized any DACAs to enlist.

Native speaker AND score 2 or higher on the OPI, and 50 or higher on the general test they give to every recruit.

You need the language AND the cultural background (ie. be a citizen of a country where its a recognized official language). You cannot learn a language to get into MAVNI.

As of today the entire MAVNI program remains closed until the DOD/Army does the regulations as to how treat us. If they wouldn't want to they'd simply say, MAVNI is open, we don't want DACAs, get fucked. But no, DOD authorized us, Army seems interested in the new pool made available, so now they need to sit down and think "well, how do we take those guys in?".

I personally went to a recruiter and he said no. So it doesn't get any clear than that.

Reading comprehension is really slipping in this country, MAVNI isn't open for the year yet, and there's no regulations to accepting DACAers. Also, it's a small program to begin with, some recruiters may simply be unaware of it. Once it opens print out the official memos (from DOD and the US Army) and bring them with you.

Also, if you have undocumented parents or your spouse or child is undocumented, you are not eligible for MAVNI. Finally, it's not enough to speak some Arabic--you must speak it at the level of a native speaker in order to qualify for MAVNI. Also, MAVNIs are not typically recruited to be interpreter aides; most of them are in the infanty, combat medic, or some other job that does not require a security clearance. Non citizens are not allowed to get a security clearance, so they cannot enlist into a job that requires one--and military linguist requires a clearance. MAVNIs who speak Arabic fluently may be able to enlist as a 09L (interpreter aide) but not as a linguist.
So let's say I get in as an interpreter aide, what would be expected of me. Infantry sounds high risk. I'm not trying to die for a GC lol

Interpreter aides are just like infantry. They work alongside infantry in villages where their language skills are needed. If you don't want to die for your country, don't join the military. You will fail out of basic training and the Government will have wasted valuable time and resources on you.
