has anybody gone through a situation like this :( plz help

Please if you or you know about someone with this same situation i really appreciate if u let me know!!
On october 7 my brother's EAD was approved and after we waited a few days for the status to change for I821D it never did , after exact 30 days we called and they told us that it had been approved that we were suppost to receive it in no more than 2 weeks , so here again nothing and case status still on initial review!! The second call was made by the representative on his case , turns out that uscis representatives cannot have access to the system and change the initial review application, all they.can do is send some.kind of email to the service center working on the case to address the issue, then they would change the status and send I797, then again nothing this morning we get a call from his case rep, and said that she just got an email sayin that since hes been approved and by sending approval notice, and them not getting it as returned mail , we would have to fill out a form for.a.replacement that cost $405 ???
My questions to you guys aré
- can they send approval notices I797 with status still showing initial review??
-we live in alabama a state that requires I821D notice to get the DL, do you guys know another way to do this?
Its just really confusing i really hope somebody can help us out on what to do.!! Thanks for ur guys time!!

So you did not get the physical EAD card ?

So from what I understand, your brother DACA was approved meaning only the EAD one actually changed, but the I821D didn't.

I guess I have to remind you guy again, you can be I821D approve but be denied for I797. You CANNOT be I797 approved, and I821D denied. You brother both I797 & i821D were approved but their system havent been updated yet, quite frankly I starting to believe people are approve months before printing and sending the approval process actually begins.


I don't understand the rest of what you are saying, something about calling them and them calling you and something about paying a fee?


If his I797 was approved, it should take about 1-3 weeks for it to arrive and it looks it was approve, right?

i never got a number for my 821D but on my ead approval it said i was approved for 821 D as well so idk why the do that to some...

Yes he now has his physical EAD, the only reason we really need the approval notice for I821D is bcz in our state its a requirement to get the Drivers Lic, we tried going over to the DMV they simply said NOT without the I797 .
We just dont know if they can actually send out letters with the status on initial review, we called twice asking for it and they just said we would get it withing 2 weeks max its now been 2 months. And the $405 is for a form that we need to fill out to request another copy of I797, but its just all confusing if they did send them out its really crazy that neither our lawyer or us got the letter, bcz thats what they do right ???if u got a lawyer they send one to us and one to our lawyer and none of us got the paper.

What state are u from ? They should even ask for that i797 because it is ONLY a NOTICE not a proof of work authorization.
The EAD card should be enough to get a DL license.

Oh i know what you mean now. yeah in VA you need the 1797 notice they didnt care for the 821D notice. hopefully they give you one fast!

Still nothing in alabama and they wont let us take driving exams without the approval notice for I-821D, we called like a.bunch of times they just wont give us a solution, the form that they tell.us to fill out for a copy, cant be done because on the system I-821 its still pending
