it could very be to explain something in your criminal record if you have anything or not enough evidence for a year. sometimes it can be to clear up a school thing also.

I have a VERY clean record, do you have anything on your record that would take this long for them to issue you a RFE? I did my biometrics on 9-26-2014 and my congressman told me they (USCIS) barely received them last month, so it took about 2 months for them to clear my background. (Even enough it's clean) I'm still waiting to get approved.

I send my app on May it'll be 7 months in 2 days since they got it.
(They took forever to send my biometrics appointment "5 Months")

Wow it took them along time to give you a biometric appointment date?! That's crazy! Here is the link to Find out who your congressman is in your district, http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/
If you have a criminal record it usually takes longer than 6 months to get a decision.

I know it was a CRAZY wait.
Long time ago I meet a guy, in this forum, that waited 2 years to get a RFE.
That's why I don't complain, but I was really worry.
