When the NYTimes, USCIS, DHS, Congressmen, non-profits, etc, are warning people about spending questionable amounts of money in order to file a free form for an affirmative benefit, I think I might have a point. I was forced to use an attorney because of my situation; but for an affirmative benefit as is DACA, why would most people pay thousands for clerical work??

Surgery is no easy ride. A lawyer makes a mistake or typo on a form, and in most cases, it can be rectified. A bank makes a mistake, you lose some money. A doctor makes a mistake and it can cost a life; in OB you are talking about two lives. There are a lot of deficiencies in medicine, and a lot of physicians will take advantage of the universal badge of respectability that is the MD title; believe me, most are being weeded out. The availability of big data and digital medical information is taking care of that.

I agree with you that this is a free country and people are free to wast...er, dispose of their money as they see fit. Thousands of dollars is a very significant amount of most immigrants earnings/wages; I think the money would be put to better use in more sustainable investments, eg, health care and education.

Btw, and I mean this as a compliment, your writing has gotten more candid and authentic without being combative. It's reflective and better. I guess happiness will do that to you
Well, we're all grown-ups (most of us lol). I do agree with you regarding the ethics of lawyers which is why I think if you find a good lawyer who does have professional ethics, he's worth his weight in gold. Part of the reason I'm in the mess I'm in is because the lawyer our relatives hastily found for us was incompetent. I've also know of people who had lawyers that did very shady things (had "fixers", etc.). And of course, there is all the non-lawyers and notario types who have no legal background and scam people.

With Doctors, two of my friends are doctors and for the most part seem to be ethical people though from what I hear, I wouldn't recommend any girl date a male doctor since they tend to lack ethics when it comes to relationships.

Hmmm...from personal experience, anesthesiologists are the weird ones. They are also the only docs I've met who have any slight resemblance to TV docs, just so everyone knows. Though, most of the medical staff I have friendships with are female, but yeah...many male docs have a sort of superiority complex. It also seems to be a generational issue. Which is why despite being interested in medicine, I'll take a nerd over a doc any day.
