I'm so frustrated with a family member who was approved for daca.

she never used her legit SSN to work. she kept working at the same crusty restaurant with a fake ssn. she hasn't gotten a license. she didn't file for taxes. now her ead expires in march and she hasn't submitted a renewal... i don't understand her.

it really pisses me off that we we've been here illegally for 20+ yrs and she got what we always wanted and did nothing with it. not to mention the people on here waiting months on end and losing opportunities while her dumb ass is letting this slip out of her hands. i want to slap her!

Someone people are just walking potatoes and there's nothing you can do about it.

I always say "live and let die". If it comes to bite her on the ass later, well, it's not your problem. Some people just try their best to be losers. You had all kinds of idiots back in 1986 that didn't apply for the Amnesty despite being eligible. You're bound to have some who won't take advantage of DACA, and if CIR were to pass you can be sure there would be some more idiots that wouldn't apply for that either or make absolutely no use of it.

Although I know exactly how you feel, I have a bunch of retards in my immediate family as well (parents). They spend about 10 years twiddling their thumbs until they decided to see a lawyer and try fixing their status.

"Why?" you may ask, well my step father didn't care for documents until his pre-REAL ID NY Driver's License expired and when he filed for renewal the DMV told him to come to them with proof of status. That's suddenly where he woke up and decided to schedule an appointment.

If they started a year or two earlier I wouldn't have aged out. Started everything when I was 19.5 years old. Labor certification is still pending (I'm 22 now)... Unless USCIS royally fucks up in my favor, or the lawyer pulls some crazy shit, I'm left out since CSPA doesn't account for time the DOL pissed away. Since there's no precedent decisions on this whatsoever, instead it's just USCIS interpretation I wouldn't be surprised if I'd have to deal with the BoAI, or even federal courts... Either way, I've got a very uphill battle ahead of me. Can't fucking wait.

Some people choose to coast through life and never better themselves.

At least she even applied the first time, lol. I know a family with 2 sons and a daughter who still haven't done anything even though all 3 children qualify.

Their excuse is they can't cover the lawyer fee.

A: Do it yourself.

Well...we can't really read English well. The instructions are confusing.

Mentally: What the fuck.

Spoken: I see, that does make it difficult. Well, I hope you can find a way to raise the money so you know its done right. Just stay away from lawyers who promise you quicker approval time for more money. You'll just be put in a waiting line like everyone else.

____

Honestly the only reason why I think they havn't applied, and why your cousin hasn't reapplied is because they don't have a reason to actually use it.

The two sons both work construction jobs and claim to be happy with it. The daughter idk enough about but she's probably in a similar situation if she can't read English well enough to do it herself.

Give your cousin a degree or trade skill and ambition and you can bet she'd be overnighting her application while you pay for first-class mail.

I'm on the same boat, except this is with a friend who was born in the US. She's still at the same crappy warehouse job that we both started at when we graduated HS. (her with her good social and me with a fake). Even before I applied for DACA I found myself a great job. I'm now currently in the process to getting my EAD.

I just don't get how she won't look for anything better. She still doesn't even have her license! It's sad to see and I understand your frustration even though it's a bit of a different scenario.

I pray for you cousin so that she understand how important this really is for her.

I have a cousin who became a citizen through her step father who adopted her. If that didn't happen, she'd be in the same situation I am in. She did absolutely nothing with it! She never went to college and has been working a minimum wage job since she graduated high school. Her excuse is that teachers are mean to her and that school is too hard. In this world there are people who do and people who don't. Doers do what it takes to accomplish their goals no matter what. There's no shame in working minimum wage, but to have access to something better and not want it makes no sense to me. I can think of a million things I would do if I was in her situation. It's just the way the world is and there's nothing you can really do about it, but use it to motivate yourself to never be like them.

Keep in mind that some places will fire you once you get a SSN because it tells them that you've lied to them all these years. Maybe she didn't file taxes because of not having anything under her legal SSN, maybe she doesn't know how to drive and doesn't have money for renewal.
