I always say "live and let die". If it comes to bite her on the ass later, well, it's not your problem. Some people just try their best to be losers. You had all kinds of idiots back in 1986 that didn't apply for the Amnesty despite being eligible. You're bound to have some who won't take advantage of DACA, and if CIR were to pass you can be sure there would be some more idiots that wouldn't apply for that either or make absolutely no use of it.

Although I know exactly how you feel, I have a bunch of retards in my immediate family as well (parents). They spend about 10 years twiddling their thumbs until they decided to see a lawyer and try fixing their status.

"Why?" you may ask, well my step father didn't care for documents until his pre-REAL ID NY Driver's License expired and when he filed for renewal the DMV told him to come to them with proof of status. That's suddenly where he woke up and decided to schedule an appointment.

If they started a year or two earlier I wouldn't have aged out. Started everything when I was 19.5 years old. Labor certification is still pending (I'm 22 now)... Unless USCIS royally fucks up in my favor, or the lawyer pulls some crazy shit, I'm left out since CSPA doesn't account for time the DOL pissed away. Since there's no precedent decisions on this whatsoever, instead it's just USCIS interpretation I wouldn't be surprised if I'd have to deal with the BoAI, or even federal courts... Either way, I've got a very uphill battle ahead of me. Can't fucking wait.
jesus christ! see that's what i mean about how she's lucky and takes it for granted. I wish you the best of luck <3

and to whoever asked yes of course i've talked to her about it... all the time. she's the type of person who victimizes themselves and i'm the opposite so we clash. no matter how bad shit gets i know i'm lucky. i'm alive and have my health and family and a job and friends. she has the same but to her everything is awful. she makes excuses for everything. she had some shit happen when she was little. but my parents took her in and basically raised her. her life could've been a mess but they prevented that.

i know she's depressed, but again not proactive. she'd rather wallow in self pity than do something about it. she says she doesn't have the money but i told her i would pay for her application. that kind of sparked her i guess. i offered to come over today to help her and she's like "no i'm going to do it myself but i know it's going to get denied". she's just SO. NEGATIVE. i can't.

I know a guy who really lucked out when he got amnesty in 1986. For that gift he has 3 child support payments, 1 DWI, no car, and just being a pathetic shell of a human being.

A new episode with my mother. Sorry for the rant post, but I need to vent, and I didn't want to make a new thread. Don't wanna see a rant, just scroll to the next post.

She just outright decided that she wants to open a tanning salon and I have to help her since I have some documents. It wasn't even a question, she just declared that "you and I will have plenty of work to do...".

Well, she was surprised and then pissed that I flat out refused.

Knowing her she'd fuck something up and I'd be left with whatever problems incurred from it, since everything would most likely be in my name. Not to mention that she can't manage to call customer service when she ordered a TV, so obviously everything in that business would be on my shoulders.

This is the person who, when I said that I'll need to get my deportation order overturned (or rather get administrative re-opening and closure) and use AP while I still have DACA, so I'll be able to become a PR later via my USC girlfriend later, pretty much just blew me off saying "do you have the 10 grand for the lawyer's fee"? And no, it's not that they don't have the money to help me there, this is just greedy bitchiness (I'm aware of at least 50k in savings from various documents I had to translate, there's most likely more). Atop of long string of lesser but equally annoying things over the years.

Fucking hilarious. A woman who fucked up hard years ago and got us both deportation orders and who refused to take any responsibility for that, a woman who spend the past 10 years twiddling her thumbs hoping for reform, a woman who does not trust me enough to borrow the car for ~2 hours*.
This woman actually expected me, to essentially lend her my identity, without any assurance whatsoever, so she can go a business venture that I essentially would need to care for.

No fucking thank you.

*- Because her friend's son totaled one 2 years ago, same guy who beat a guy to dogshit and broke his arm, and had a warrant on his head, and somehow strangely got DACA later, same guy who got fired because he'd work fucking stoned all the time. And because "I need to learn to drive better", despite the fact I never get to drive due to this catch 22, and despite the fact I am extremely careful when I drive. Bullshit to English translation being "Fuck off and get your own".

Lol, this reminds me of a friend of mine who's got 2 kids, and I told her to apply for the new Daca for parents, and she was like, Na.. and I am like, "Don't be fucking stupid" and a few other amouthly talk like that, and I guess it got through to her.. you just need to make her feel stupid for not doing what she is supposed to do... just tell her how retarded she is and then it will come around,

We have family friends who were here for the amnesty in 1986 and just did not apply. One woman in particular has USC children. All of them know about my family's situation and tell her regularly that they are glad they were born here because my sister and I are "illegals that will never get anywhere in life". Yet, we both graduated with honors, attended college, work full time, and plan to go to medical school, but I digress.

In theory, she qualifies for DAPA.

BUT...she has a deportation order from the 1980s when she and her husband at the time were busted with a lot of drugs and has had several petty charges since. She has had several lawyers tell her that she is better off saving her money and going back home, but is convinced that one of her children can join the military and file for her.

My mother has explained to her that if not one but FIVE lawyers have told you the same story, then there may be some truth to it. She's been here for years, has done nothing for herself and now wants to benefit from the new EO, which we have cautioned her to not apply for because of her history.

Add insult to injury, the kids who she expect will be able to save her from immigration purgatory have not amounted to much.

I think this is what gets to me the most by working in a law firm. Seeing how people are so comfortable with their miserable lives. Sometimes i ask people " Why did you waited so long to do anything" and get the most stupid answers most of them just blame it on ignorance. Ignorance is no excuse when theres literally help everywhere! Ive been getting a lot of DACA kids who are too lazy to go back to school to get daca and rather continue not having anything.

OOOOH and don't get me started on people who start their own process and end up in the most fucked up situation one can imagine OR they rely on a notario to do shit and they end up royally fucked.

UGH! rant over.

Do not stress over it, trying to understand human stupidity will take a lifetime.

The two sons both work construction jobs and claim to be happy with it. The daughter idk enough about but she's probably in a similar situation if she can't read English well enough to do it herself.

Give your cousin a degree or trade skill and ambition and you can bet she'd be overnighting her application while you pay for first-class mail.
It was a 'hint hint' moment, so that they could pay for them. Oh, but I'm sure they have money for other stuff, right?

I just don't get how she won't look for anything better. She still doesn't even have her license! It's sad to see and I understand your frustration even though it's a bit of a different scenario.

I pray for you cousin so that she understand how important this really is for her.
Then they are the ones who bitch and moan about 'immigrants taking away their jobs', DUH! You don't want them!

This is the best outlet for us people...and I would recommend for you to keep everything safe, make sure NO document falls in her hands, anything can be used for her to get your identity.

Add insult to injury, the kids who she expect will be able to save her from immigration purgatory have not amounted to much.[/quote]

That's what many people expect from their kids, and that's why they have SEVERAL. Here in the Rio Grande Valley is very usual.

That's what makes our struggle so worthwhile, because we (most of us anyway) will end up amounting for 'something'.

I wonder the same thing ALL the time. It's not just immigration stuff either, there's stupid people walking everywhere!

People choose not to be proactive.

Listen here I have an aunt who has an citizen adult child and as of recent now has two adult citizen children and still doesn't care to attempt to adjust her status on top of being married to a citizenship eligible permanent resident for years who doesn't care to apply for citizenship. I was thinking maybe because they are still in their 30s and somewhat young it doesnt phase them. OH yea she also doesnt work.
