It was good. I had more trouble in the airport at mexico city. They did not know what advance parole was so they kept me waiting for like an hour until they checked my paper. Back at Chicago us custom processed me and took me to a room. They took my passport and AP sheet and stamped it.

My plane left at 9 am back to chicago. I got there 2 hours before just in case anything happened. So I got my boarding pass and then I went to check in for my luggage. The lady checking my luggage asked me for my passport and my proof of re entry. I showed her my advance parole paper and she was looking at it for a while. So eventually she called her manager and he told me he would have to verify if the paper was valid. So they made me wait for almost an hour until they approved the paper. So after that I got back to chicago and made line in the visitor and visa holders line. I waited for half hour until it was my turn. So they called me up the officer asked me how long I was in Mexico. After that he asked me for my ap paper , my ead card, and a sheet you fill out during your flight. I forgot the name but it's the one that asks you what you brought back and some personal information. After that he took my prints and picture and called another officer which took me to another section in the airport. So an officer took my paper work and stamped it and he said here sir have a nice day. Just don't bring anything back on your first trip don't give them a chance to give you a hard time. I was nervous since I was worried that they might not let me back in. But it was smother herd in Chicago than in mexico. If you any more questions ask away.

Same thing happened to me at the airport at mexico city. Took about 45 min to an hour for them to verify the AP document. The guy who was checking my luggage kept saying it wasn't valid without a stamp. I kept telling him that it gets stamped once I get here. Finally he got off the phone with someone and I was good to go. In Los Angeles was like 15 min total time, no hassles.

Same thing with me but I guess it's not their fault since it must be new.

It took my wife about 6 months. But we also waited about 3 months after AP to submit the application because we had to gather all our proof.

Hey all,

I have a question here for anyone that has succesfully been granted AP for humanitarian reasons. Long story short, I tried to apply for AP but had a hard time getting the documents that would prove why I needed to leave the country notarized. I was told on a couple occasions that I would have to have a notary public that speaks my language, which makes sense. On another occasion, I was told that I had to have the original documents and then have the translated copy notarized.

Does anyone know how true the last statement is? I thought a legible copy of the original document would suffice. Can anyone shed any light on this? Did you have to have the original doctor's statement of your relative, birth certificate, death certificate, etc. with you when you submitted your AP application? I know that if you apply through mail you don't really get the original document back, if you do send the originals.

Thank you all so much for any help on this and my apologies if this has already been discussed.
