Let me begin first by saying that I have an SSN and work permit under DACA. I have attended many California Community Colleges as an AB540 student and received BOG waivers. I only paid about $30-40 per semester. I am planning on transferring to a university soon. I heard from people that universities do not offer a BOG waiver, so everyone there just applies for FAFSA and use the Financial Aid checks to pay for tuition.

I searched online and can confirm that University of California have online applications for AB 540 students, but I think that just allows immigrants to pay IN-STATE rather than OUT-OF-STATE tuition.

Is there anyone on here who has gone, or is currently attending, a university? How did you pay for your school?

Please ask if I left anything else out (such as personal college related info).

You can get financial aid through the CA Dream Act.

Depending on your own financial situation, you will get some aid to cover the cost for University. My brother only qualify to get 2/3 of his tuition paid per Ca Dream act

If you are in a tough financial situation, can you get it completely paid off?

That's usually not the case since it's a state grant so money is very limited. There's many ways to go about though. If you're limited because of finances, maybe choose to attend a CSU instead of a UC. My wife was able to put herself through college for 6-years at Fresno State working for the minimum wage at Carl's Jr. before resources like DACA and CA Dream Act became available. So it's very doable.

Oh okay. Ya I am going to a CSU for sure. I think that's about $12,000 yearly right?

I think it varies. But for Fresno State (which is where my wife and I graduated from) it's about $6,500 a year for full-time (7+ units) and about $4,200 a year for part-time. Throw in another $1,000 a year for books, parking and school supplies and you're looking at about $7,500 to $8,000 a year for school.

Just wanted to add I remember AB540 allowed me to pay in-state tuition instead of out-of-state. I don't remember financial aid information though.

ETA: Oops nvm lol
