I know that we, Dreamers, are limited to A LOT of stuff but I'm wondering if we are able to obtain any kind of aviation certificate or license(not for commercial purposes)?
There is a program called "Alien Flight Student Program" which is pretty much an application that you have to submit to TSA and get your background check and so on to verify you wouldnt be a threat to aviation or national security.

I was going to create an account here:

https://www.flightschoolcandidates.g.../register.html

then after, you can submit an application to see if youre eligible but I'm not fully sure if entering my information would somehow affect my EAD?

They ask for your personal info (name, address etc) then they ask for passport number, issuing country etc etc..

Pretty much what I'm asking is if its safe to go ahead and submit and application like that, given my status (DACA)

thanks all

Do it. Started in July, and I have 11.4 hours towards my PPL now. With the AFSP, enter your EAD information as you would an LPR document.

I did it before renewing DACA, so I'm not sure how my renewal will tie into my existing AFSP approval. We'll see... Let's keep each other posted.

Don't forget your AME too.

PM me if you have any questions.

That's great news! I was literally looking all over the web on information for our specific situation. I am planning on starting sometime next month and also wanted to verify if there was any restrictions for us under DACA. Thanks for sharing!

What school are you guys doing your training at?

Any update on this please? Trying to join local flight school for private license, got financing approved, but not sure how it will go with the TSA Clearance with DACA status...

Hi all,

Yes, both 'swert' and I have started flight training. I'm training at Long Beach Airport in CA, and he's on the East Coast.

For the AFSP application, I uploaded my EAD on the LPR section.

I've now received my Private Pilot License, and renewed DACA with no problems, currently working on my Instrument Rating on my third TSA and second DACA renewal.

Sorry for the late reply, and good luck to you guys!

Don't hesitate to ask more questions if you have any.

Good stuff in this thread, thank you. A buddy of mine has an aircraft that I've 'attempted' to fly a few times. But know that I could get my license now makes things a whole lot better!
