I work for a big bank. My application received 11-24-14, bio on 12-31-14 and exp on 3-3-15. I knew the date is coming so I brought it up to my manager which I then contacted HR and they have advised me to have my manager contact their HR advisor. They give me until the 3rd to work then from the 4th they give me 30 calendar days to have my permit. The leave after the 3rd is no pay. If it doesn't come by April 4th then I will be terminated but I could apply to get rehired. I can say haven't even thought of asking them to payout my bonuses or my vacation time that I've earned. I'm definetly going to ask about that because if I'm terminated I atleast need that cash. The biggest part of this is having to worry to loss your job, I feel worse for those who have kids. My prayers to all of us and I hope things come fast.

Plus I saved up all my vacation time and have a decent lump sum of money to live until I get renewed; plus my employer has to cash me out on my enormous amount of time and vacation lol. $$
Could I ask you how you went about asking them to cash out your vacation hours? Also how did you know we were able to do that? Thank you advance.

For those whose work permits are expiring and HR has not asked you for a renewed one, my advise is that you don't tell them about it at all. I would rather just risk it. Normally if they do ask for the renewed one it would be 90 days before expiration if they are signed up with USCIS's e-verify. If they haven't, it means that they are not aware.

I was in a similar situation last year and since i work for a big company they had asked for the new work permit 90 days ahead and every after 30 days.

Very interesting to hear this. I work for a very large public company as well and I assume they're using e-Verify but my 90 day warning never came. I'm only asking because I don't know but are you sure about this? Thanks
