At the Quito Airport, at the united counter they usually look over it and just look at the date you need to be back in the States. Next you cross immigration, they are usually puzzled and may take your paperwork to their office, Don't worry as they usually have to check with their supervisor since they rarely see this type of document. The key is to act naturally as you are doing nothing wrong and just expect to be asked questions.
