Hey man, I'm currently studying Computer Science. That $60k FIRST JOB deal sounds out of this world! What state are you from, may I ask? Also, why do you think you got the offer? Is there any specialty you have that set you above everyone else?

Illinois, but relocating for work. In terms of specialty, the company was specifically looking for mainframe guys, I had taken a few courses in it. 60k is bare minimum you should expect, I easily could have gotten more, if I hadn't named my price in the initial stages of the hiring process.

Really its pratically impossible? That's why some of us are the way we are because we put each other down. I am currently in Saudi Arabia on a rig in the Arabian desert. I have been traveling with AP's as explained in other threads. I have been lucky to get AP's approved for multiple entries for spans of up to 6 months.

Currently make 24/hr while still in school working part time.
I do start full time in June @ 70k+/year and ridiculous benefits. I am still awaiting to be renewed, but hopefully it all gets sorted before then.

It's also important to note that the median US salary per person is around 27k. Anyone (ie supporting only themselves) making 40k is doing well. Keep up the good work guys and gals!
