Getting or renewing drivers license in GA

I was just curious if anyone in Georgia recently had any difficulties with renewing drivers license in the state of Georgia. When I initially received my EAD in 2013 I went there with my expired passport and was fine. However, now it seems as if the new required documentations at the DDS are there purposefully, to give us a hard time. Along with the EAD you have to have a UNEXPIRED passport. This is going to now delay my DL renewal for months for my to receive one from my country of origin.

I live in Georgia. My sister and I were able renew our driver's licenses without any issues. However, I had to use my valid passport.

Do what my brother did. Go to a DDS in a high ethnic minority area (e.g. Decture, or anywhere close to Atl,), and hope you get a functionary who merely glances at your passport for identification purposes only.

It worked for him. His first stop was at our local DMV, who questioned his expired passport, which given the county would have taken months to renew. So he went to another one; no questions were asked.

Its really hit or miss unfortunately.

Was this recently? I haven't received my renewed passport yet and my current license is expired

I too live in GA, but haven't been able to get a license because I am still waiting on my application. However, if it brings you any comfort almost everyone including USC have problems because of all the documents you have to provide. My husband has to renew next year and he's already not happy at the thought of having to deal with it.

So anyone who has renewed they DL I know i need to take my EAD and proof of address and passport but do i need the approval letters of DACA and I765 ??? because I got my EAD but not the letter . I live in GA...

They'll just ask for your work permit and valid passport... If your passport is expired don't bother trying I went to 4 different ones all in highly ethnic areas and they all said no

Do those of you from GA know if you need more than a current passport and the EAD card to get your driver's license? That is what the lady at the Department of Driver's Services told me I would need, but my sister in CA said I would need my social security card. So I am wondering whether I can go to get my license as soon as I get my EAD card in the mail, or whether I will need to wait until I get a valid social security card. Thanks for your help.

You will need your ss card . Valid passport don't bother going if you don't have one I went to four different dmv's they all said no.. Your EAD and 2 proofs of address
