I submitted my I-821 form (DACA) a few months back. I already went to my Bio-metrics but recently i got a notice from USCIS.

Since i got married in 2009 I adopted my husbands last name but obviously being illegal in this country i cant go change my name.

I made the mistake of submitting the app. with my married last name as to my birth name.

Now i must submit proof of the name change. Im scared to just send our marriage certificate and it will not be sufficient proof for the officer. I already consulted a lawyer and she said it should be fine but honestly i think she didnt have enough interest in my case since she had a line of clients behind me.

Can I just send them a cover letter and say sorry about the married name just use my birth name???ANY ADVICE.

What's this, the 3rd or 4th post regarding name changes and on this site? If you're undocumented, with or without DACA, it's stupid to try to change your name. There is no point. Just having a real government issued ID is a challenge when all your paperwork has your own name on it, but is the sexist tradition of taking one's husband's name that big of a priority to risk having your paperwork delayed?

At any case, why would you send your husband's name as your birth name? Your birth name is always the same. I guess you can just explain what you did, but expect delays...better yet, talk to a lawyer.
