In college, it sucked when the talk of spring break plans would come up among my friends. Everyone wanted to go out of the country, but I suggested Florida and to drive there, but they just shot down those kinds of ideas. Except one of my close friends who knows. The other ones all said," even if we do drive there, you can't go cuz you don't have an ID, and we're going to be at the bars all the time." I was like "f*ck you alcoholic b*tches" (pardon my french). I would've been perfectly content to spend the time at the beach every day.

Only 3 of my friends know about my situation. My other friend calls me illegal, but she doesn't really know that I am. It's kinda funny.

I agree with you all... I totally hate when the immigration topic comes up cuz then they all start asking questions and I quickly try to change the subject. So awkward.

My friends and I were having a private conversation once and someone asked me if I was a "border hopper." It made me really nervous and I denied it... because I'm not a border hopper! I got here on a plane!

I defend illegal immigration because it just pisses me off when people don't understand the sacrifices "border hoppers" make.

Well two of my friends (who are US citizen) know my situation, the irony is that both where undocumented at one point in their lives so both tend to understand what I'm going through. The rest of my friends don't know or have ever ask I guess I don't give them a reason too :P

My cousin told my best friend behind my back. I wish he hadnt done that. It was deffinitely easier for me when he didn't know, because I hate talking about this shit as is, and now, inevitably, it keeps popping up all the time.

Soon I'm turning 21 and I have many "club going" friends that are just going to ask questions and this time around I really do not have a lie for them...

I hear ya Nick... my cousin also told some of her friends... they've never approached me, but they look at me as if i'm an alien... no pun intended!

since i was 16 i've always told my friends that it's complicated why i can't drive or have an ID... it gets worse and worse as you get older cuz people get smarter and keep asking questions, especially when i turned 21... i just say it's a long, complicated story and i don't like to talk about it. or that i'm still waiting for all my papers to get straightened out which takes forever. eventually they stop asking.

in the recent months i have told more of my friends and they're on my side but they were completely shocked when i told them... it's funny how they couldn't figure it out on their own... they only person who did figure it out was my boyfriend, only cuz some of his cousins are illegal. i guess the average young american has no clue about the immigration laws of this country. no one would think i'm illegal anyway, cuz i'm white and from europe, and people don't usually associate those characteristics with illegal immigrants.
