I'm thinking of applying for AP considering my grandparents are in their 80s and have had a couple of scares but is still thankfully still here. My mother went back because we had a pretty good scare last year and decided it's best for her to be there before they went. Anyways, what kind of letters/doc does the doc need to provide? or do i just need the medical diagnosis? If they are not able to provide it, is there another way to apply? can someone please help me figure out how to apply? Thanks.

Any and all evidence is needed. Whatever you think of that can help to prove your case then file it too. Read some of the AP stories by doing a search to get an idea.

Best scenario is to have a doctor-signed letter (translated to English by a certified translator) explaining the situation and medical issues any of your grandparents have. Medical exams is also helpful, as long as they are translated into plain English.

You will also need a separate letter from yourself explaining the need to go visit. The medical papers is basically your proof for what you'll have to say on the letter.

Without some medical proof (with a somewhat serious diagnosis, not just a cold), it will be hard to prove the need to go. Touch on the subject that they are old on your letter and make sure to list all the medical issues as much as possible. You basically have to prove there's a real need for you to go.

Good luck.
