I asked for a month but I only stayed out of the US for about 2 weeks. I asked for the extra time to plan my trip, they even gave me a about 2 weeks extra than what I originally requested

Hi guys,
I did not find a thread where I could add my AP process timeline so I figured I could add it here..
I am requesting to go to Mexico for 31 days. My Grandma is having a surgery and has cardiovascular problems. I sent 2 passport pics, cashier's check $360, G-1145 form, I131 form, copies of my approval letters, EAD copy front and back, original letter from the surgeon, original letter from the cardiologist, copy of letter summarizing Grandma's medical record, copy of my grandma's birth certificate, copy of my mom's certificate, copy of my birth certificate, and a letter stating my reasons for the request. My paternal grandmother passed away a few years back so I also included my dad's birth certificate and grandma's death certificate. Everything was translated by a notary public.
I found it nearly impossible to find a sample doctor letter or a template of what is supposed to say. I know several people here have asked for a copy of what was sent with the form. I can add a copy of my letter and the Dr's letters if anyone needs them.
Sent AP request 5/13/2015
Requested 31 days in August

My online status for AP just changed to:On May 20, 2015, we mailed your document for Receipt Number LINxxxxxxxxxx, directly to the address you gave us. If you do not receive your document by June 19, 2015, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request the document be sent to you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address. Anyone know if this means I got approved??

OK guys. I haven't been posting in a while but its nice to be back and see a lot of people being able to fly out of the States with AP, congrats to all of you.

I'm considering flying to my home country for Humanitarian reasons but it's really expensive to get flight tickets last minute, so my question is: Do they give you an specific amount of time to use your AP, for example do they give you 2-3 months to use it then after that if you don't get to use it, does it expire? Should I pay for my flight ticket now and pray that my AP gets accepted a couple of weeks before my flight?
