I won some tickets to a concert over the radio. I didn't check the eligibility requirements before calling in, and noticed that I must be a "legal resident" to participate. Should I still pick up the tickets? Does daca fall under legal resident?

If anyone has won a contest and picked up the prize, I would love to hear from you!

Thank you.

I'm pretty sure all they're going to ask for is a valid state ID.

Yes, pick them up. If they are valued at $600 or more however, they'd have to 1099 you later and get your social security number so that's why they mention the legal resident thing. Now go enjoy your Justin Bieber concert

They are having me fill out a W-9 form. The form is having me include my social security number and then signing a statement that says that I am a U.S. citizen or other U.S. person.

I hope not! I am just worried and don't want to fill out the W-9 form and then have it come back and bite me in the butt.

Thank you! I am still confused as to what I am considered. Even filling out my w-4 at work is so confusing.

I am filling out the w-9 form that accompanies it, but it also states on the form that I must be a U.S. citizen or other U.S. person. This whole no-legal-status-but-you-may-have-legal-status-here-and-there is so confusing! Belieber 4ever.

Thank you all! So, you all think I am good to pick them up? I am really grateful at how quickly all of you have responded.

Important to note that the filling of a w-9 will not necessarily mean that they will 1099 you. If it's over $600 then they will in which case you report it as income when you do your taxes next year. If it's less, they won't bother.
