She sat through 2 hours of interrogation to where she got her birth certificate and social. I moved just months after getting Daca to a smaller town hours away and was for work where I literally just worked, ate, slept then back to work. Job ended I didn't want to relocate to Nebraska (I live in Oklahoma) so I moved in with my Gf in Oklahoma city. I haven't been able to since my car won't pass the Dmv standards, just because I have Daca doesn't mean I can afford a newer car. The accident was a car crash where another car lost control on to my lane and I hit passenger side. I did have insurance on the car problem was cop wouldn't let me in my car to get it, wouldn't let my Gf look for it when she got there and car was impounded before he even got any details of the accident. You are forgetting I was undocumented as well and just to get a matricula I had to wait weeks before someone would drive me 7 hours to Kansas City.
Why would anyone want to live in that city?

Move out of there

Honestly OP, that was pretty dumb of you. You put yourself in harm as well as others. You already know that you are in daca. Why risk?!?! I go to a bar time to time. I spend money on Uber rather than driving drunk. They have given us this privilege to stay. Why not just abide with the rules? Best suggestion, you gonna have to contact a lawyer to help you out

I no longer live in that city. I live in a bigger more Latino populated city now. I presented my insurance to the court case person at the window and said it had been over 48 hours since accident and couldn't wave it.

Honestly it wasn't even my fault. The guy who was involved in accident even said so when people gathered to see if everything was OK but it wasn't til paramedics who where driving by that he started complaining about his back and loss of memory. Ridiculous right? I didn't go to jail for the accident. Cop stated it was a civil dispute and low key acknowledged that the other guy was full of c**p. The no DL was really really stupid of me but believe me when I tell you it hasn't been easy for me to obtain one. And I did have insurance just was so shaky from the commotion I had stepped out the car without searching for it and was not allowed back in my vehicle to look for it. I don't drink I don't even smoke. I quit my good job for a lesser paying job just to pay taxes and use the ssn I was given. I try my best to abide by all rules some things just have been out of my reach.

Many undocumented have gone through hell and back to get a driver's license and still can't but there you have a golden ticket and you're wasting it and giving all the other DACA recipients a bad name. It was a "minor" accident but what if you would have hit a car and hurt someone? Worse yet, a kid? You could single handedly ruin DACA for everybody.

Wow the posters on this thread are SO judgmental. You don't know the whole story, why judge op? He is asking for help, not for you to point fingers.... I'm pretty sure he regrets what happened already.
Anyways..... I know two DACA recipients that were arrested for driving without a license and they were still able to get DACA, so I don't think you will have an issue.

You must be new here. I'm judgmental because everything DACA is on life support right now and even one stupid act by someone holding DACA can ruin the entire program for everybody else. If a DACA holder gets arrested or causes harm to a citizen in an accident, you can bet your ass it will be headline news that "Dreamer murders American".

On a more personal note, I didn't get a driver's license in High School in the midwest because I was afraid that if I took driver's ed and went to the DMV and was denied, it would reveal my status to my classmates and my life would be over, but I didn't drive. I got to watch my friends drive. I took the bus, walked, or got a ride. It sucked, but it never occurred to me to drive without a license because I knew bad things would happen if I got pulled over.

When I finally moved to a more immigrant friendly state, Texas ironically, I was able to get a license because at the time, they only cared that you could prove who you were and had a ssn. Even with a valid license, I would go out of my way to be careful but did have a few accidents and such - hey, shit happens. At least I knew I was covered and had insurance.

In the last few years however, the driver's license situation has been bad. the laws changed and I couldn't renew it anymore and I had to make some hard choices because I don't have DACA and can't just go to the DMV like DACA holders and get my license like a semi-normal person. There are also many others like me who wish they had a way to get a DL but can't.

Because of that, I have little patience for someone who has the ability to get their DL free and clear, but doesn't do it and makes excuses. The lady was mean to you there? Guess what, it's a state license, go to another location. "But I don't have a car..." Again, guess what? They have adult driving schools.

One thing I've learned in life is if something is important, and people have the opportunity for it, they make it work somehow. Others just make excuses.
