Hi Everyone,

I have been eligible to sign up for 401k at the company I work at for a few months now but I haven't done so as I am not sure if us DACA recipients are allowed to?
My company will match a percentage of everything I put in, and I really want to start saving for retirement now. What are your thoughts? I did a bit of research but came across different conclusions.... is anyone currently enrolled in a 401k with their employer?

I read online cases where people had to remove their money from the account eventually as only perm residents and citizens are allowed to have a 401k... It Even happened to those on work visas, so i was worried.

I have a 401k. It shouldn't matter. It's your money.

So, you are not required to be a US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident? Was the "Status" question in the enrollment form?

Anyone else?

Does the enrolment form ask about your legal status?

I don't remember having to put any information about legal status, but that was almost two years ago. There was no issues for me.

I honestly don't know. My work automatically enrolled me after probation, so I wouldn't know. I have been contributing for two years with no issues
