Is anyone following the Real ID Act? Apparently starting on January of next year the last phase of the Real ID Act will take effect, which is that in order to board a flight in the US one must show Real ID Act compliant documents, either: US Passport, Green Card, Enhanced Driver's License, Military ID etc.

I have been able to fly domestic no problem since getting my Driver's License, but it looks like beginning next year there will be complications to say the least. Getting an "Enhanced Driver's License" requires proof of citizenship or legal status...

Anyone have anything to add regarding this issue?

You can still fly with your passport. Regardless of country

If your state is compliant then you can use your drivers license with no problems. And also, if your state has an extension, then you can still use it up until the date that is listed on the dhs website

The only people who are screwed at the moment are those with NM or WA licenses and no passport. Too bad too, I love those Southwest Peanuts and eating lunch at different airports while changing planes

Let's just wait for the state legislature to decide what to do. A lot of states are not fans of Real ID anyway so in the future who knows whether they'll repeal it or not.
