I have DACA and have been considering MAVNI, but I am not so sure if it is right for me and I don't want to waste all the time and effort and end up not being able to make it. My native language is Chinese, which qualifies for the critical language option, but I don't speak that well in general and I am not that in shape either and I don't want to spend all the time and effort and pass everything but failed the BCT at the end. Is anyone else here who thinks MAVNI might not be right for him/her here?

You have to fluent enough to speak and write. From what I've read, they assess your language abilities and rate them accordingly. You could pass it. As for BCT, you'll make it through. They'll whip you into shape real quick. If you think this is the path that you take then you should do it

You're looking at 9 months before you even get to BCT, that's enough time to get into shape. I was a couch potato for most of my life, and in 2 months I went from running zero miles to 5 miles following the Couch To 5K program(you can get it as an APP for your phone, definitely worth it, even though it's just a series of timers with voice overs).

There's also the 100 pushups program: http://hundredpushups.com/
And 200 situps program: http://www.twohundredsitups.com/

Getting physically ready is the easy part. The 8 year commitment is the hardest, but in my opinion our situation is precarious, DACA could easily be suspended by a demagogue Republican next year, so signing up for 8 years and earning citizenship is worth it.

I am also worried about if they might go after my illegal friends when they found out about them during the SSBI.

This is an important thing to think about it because although ICE And the military are two different entities, nothing stops them from exchanging info should they ever need to. However I don't think this would ever happen. If something does happen and it's bad ( you betray, dishonorable discharged, ect) they could come after them for questioning.

However i personally know someone who managed to get into the army illegally, yes it happens, military find out discharged him but he's still in the USA so I don't think they give info to ICE. His family is still here as well. I don't know if he apply for DACA thought

Personally, I am trying to get into army with MAVNI...

but it's a military... there is a big risk involved... I am at a beginning stage and still need to take asvab but it's my only choice...

if you think it's a waste of time, why not pursue different matter?
