Ditto on that. Had I been of that age, my life would have turned out so differently...

But I never stop to wonder anymore, I used to, and I got nowhere, I only got more depressed. I've done the best I could with the opportunities and situations I had at the time, I got a degree, and now that I've been living with DACA for the past 3/4 years, it's given me a lot of perspective about how I needed to change my life and what I can do with it. And even if, worst case scenario, DACA is eliminated, I know I will do my best here or anywhere. I'm not of the idea that the US is the only country in the world you can be successful at like a lot of the DREAMER community, but I choose to stay because this is where my family is. If one day I have to go, then I'll go. All I know is that I've worked hard for what I do have and I don't owe anyone anything.

To OP,

You mention not caring about your worthless dad out of the blue on multiple occasions and it sounds as if the combination of being a DACA holder and not having a traditional dad is depressing you. You need to realize that if you're in a room among a dozen 20 year olds, 5 of those grew up with both mom and dad, the other 7 (including yourself) had either a worthless mom or dad and now live with a single parent or a step parent. Pardon me but I cannot help but be annoyed by your comment, because in all realness, you do not have it that bad AT ALL man.

A lot of us grew up with a single parent around rats and roaches with WIC and food stamps when they came out of a fuckn' booklet, and are content to have what we have. When my friends were becoming doctors, I was receiving my DACA. Ok, Trump is the GOP nominee and he MIGHT win, and if he does he MIGHT remove DACA. I made it to 27 without a work permit or a drivers license like plenty of other dreamers who have stories far worse than yours.

I can't remember who the harsh dude calling you weak willed was, but he does have a point. Other depression boards will sympathize with you but that's because they must not have heard my story or the stories of hundreds of other dreamers who came to the US at a younger age than you did and are now over 30.

Basically, to sum it up, you're not alone man, but you do need to toughen up somehow. Many of us were in a deeper shit hole than you're in but climbed out of it instead of wallowing in it. And don't kill yourself, that's ridiculous.

Anyone else get really depressed over being undocumented/illegal? I guess currently I'm not illegal (I think) thanks to the whole DACA thing, but I still feel really depressed.
I just feel shitty over this whole situation. I was brought to the USA when I was 7, I am about to be 20. Since the whole "being illegal" thing hit me during high school I just haven't been happy here. I feel like I don't belong here, I shouldn't be here. I have been thinking of leaving this country before I end up killing myself. I don't know if to stay or leave.

I don't know. Maybe when Trump wins I will get a clear answer to this.

Anyone else feel like this or is it just me?
I felt exactly the same while growing up. I was suicidal growing up. Not only was I undocumented, I was gay and a minority. I felt life couldn't get any worst but it only got tougher to move forward and make something out of myself. I was also brought here when I was 7 years old. You will always feel like this, but the challenge for you is to use it as a means to push forward and do what you can with what you got and when the chance comes up to better your situation, take it! After high school I went on to college, and right after I graduated I got approved for DACA. I felt the same way you did. I never felt accepted or valued completely. In my mind I was fighting all the self doubt and hate towards myself. Some days you feel like you're making strides and other days you feel unworthy, defeated and at times less than a human-being compared to other kids that never have to go through what we are going through. I almost left the US for good a couple years ago even after getting DACA because I still couldn't do many things I wanted to do and I still felt less than a person compared to my peers and coworkers. Whenever you get these feelings, I find it helpful to either talk to someone about it or write all your feelings down in a journal and really work yourself through in trying to push forward and tell yourself that you are worth it. Hope this helps. Please don't kill yourself.

I wonder what happened to the natives...
Mexican is Mexican, and he has you in the crosshairs.
Start packing your bags just in case:
1. Tacos, you must pack your tacos so you can have some on the ride home.
2. Mexican flag, you do own one right?
3. Cruz Azul Shirt. A must have for all Mexicans.

We were here long before white people, but our people lost. Now we're coming back harder than ever, IF trump-udo wins, he claims he'll let only the best back. A ton of people have anchor babies, and those anchor babies will take revenge by fiercely voting democratic. Then those anchors will bring the parents over and multiply their votes. All fiercely democratic voters because they'll remember what the republicans did to them. And then that anchor baby will bring back siblings in mexico, and on and on in chain migration. All 100% democratic votes. IF trump-udo wins, it's just a matter of time before the seas change tides and we have all democratic presidents and congressmen well into the future.

Watch the last breath of a dying political party.

Does anyone feel DACA was set up for us to fail? At first, we were all excited about it, finally being able to feel "normal". Then, you get to the nit and gritty of things and suddenly it's no longer "peaches and cream". There are all these restrictions! I mean there's no path to citizenship. We still cannot apply for FAFSA, Obamacare or get certain jobs. Try traveling to another country without first applying for advance parole and let's see what happens. At any time or new president, this can all be taken away and then what? Will DACA recipients resort back to how things were before DACA or move out of the country? It only put a band-aid on a problem but never solved it. That's why people are feeling depressed because of this.

Wait no having having DACA was better for you? Am I reading this correctly?

Before DACA:
No SSN
No driver license
No ability to work legally
Driving in fear of getting stopped and deported
No way of clearing EWI
No in state tuition

After DACA:
SSN
Driver license
Ability to work legally
No fear of getting deported
AP and ability to clear EWI
In state tution

And somehow it was set up for us fail?

So you were "winning" with no DACA? Why the heck did you apply for it then real question here

Either you don't understand what the term being "set up to fail" means or you fail to realize that any DACA benefits are temporary. If a new president decides that they no longer want DACA, it can just as easily be terminated along with everything else it provides.
