I'm shipping in a week or so.
My recruiter told me to fill out N-426 and N-400 for naturalization. May I ask why for the translated birth certificate? I'm Korean if that makes any difference. My recruiter asked for all of my expired passports& visa, parent's and sibling's passport & visa.

The translated birth certificate was the only thing my husband didn't take with him and it was requested at the time of his interview. So I had to get one translated and sent to him. I'm just speaking from experience, your case might be different, I don't know.

My recruiter also told me that a translated birth certificate is necessary for naturalization.

I thought South Korea doesn't issue a "birth certificate". What you guys submitting instead?

S. Korea does issue it, but it's called something else, "citizen's record" or registrar document, I forget the exact title. I have one + translated version + certificate of translation for it, which is what you need to be naturalized.

He got the certificate of translation too. I believe it was notarized as well.

Here is what my husband took with him to basic:
Social security card, DL, work permit, birth certificate (then I sent the translated one), passport, our marriage certificate (all original),our lease agreement, and copies of my dl, social security card, work permit, and passport. If you are married they will pay for your housing. And the two forms mentioned above.

Did he bring the original (untranslated) birth certificate? Or a copy of that?
