Hello! I wanted to know if anyone in Miami, Florida is currently attending Miami Dade College with a DACA waiver on their tuition.

I know Florida now has HOUSE BILL 851 but this would not apply to me as I graduated HS more than 10 years ago. This bill requires that you apply within 24 months after HS graduation.

If I remember correctly, before this bill, MDC and FIU had said they were giving out waivers for DACA recipients. I keep searching online but I only find old articles and old links which have now expired. All the other links lead me to HB 851 waivers which is not what I am looking for.

Is anyone here going to MDC who is older using a DACA waiver? Where do I find it online? Please help! I'm trying to get things together to register for Fall.

Thanks!

I am in the same situation as you and have been using the daca waiver at mdc for over 3 years.
I am also transferring to fiu this fall and have already been accepted for their instate waiver although I don't quite qualify for their updated waiver.
I will look for the waiver and pm it to you.

Thanks! I sent you a PM with my email.

If I may ask, why do you say you don't quite qualify for FIU's waiver? I plan on going to FIU after MDC so curious to know if I would be in the same situation.

Thanks for replying!

FIU replaced their original daca waiver with the new out of state tuition waiver when hb 851 passed. When I inquired about it at the onestop desk and told the person behind the counter that i don't meet the eligibility requisites (3 yrs of hs in fl, applied to college within 24 months of graduating). He just said to apply through email and send proof that mdc had been granting me instate. 3 weeks later I was approved.
